Jansword Zhu graduated from Musashino Art University in Japan and lived in Beijing and Tokyo.
Jansword Zhu is an interdisciplinary artist entangling mythology, genetics and planetary wisdom. Invoking electrons, genes, and stars, he explores the intersections between life, technology, and the environment, dismantling the boundaries between scientism and transcendence. he poses critical questions to us of this ever-shifting era through techno-spiritual rituals. Zhu’s art spans digital art, film, installation and painting. His work Transenlight series has garnered widespread attention, it has been featured at ICI Berlin Planetary Wisdom Symposium under the title of DAO of Genome: From “Transenlight” to the Politics of Self-Organization.
Zhu's art has been exhibited in ICI Berlin, Hombres Videopoetry Awards(Italy), BRIDGES International Film Festival(Greece),Versi di Luce – International Filmpoetry Festival (Italy), International Media Festival of Wales(UK), LA International Art Film Fest(USA), Hallucinea Film Festival(France), Experimental Film Guanajuato(Mexico), Miami Chroma Art Film Festival(USA), National Art Museum of Japan, UCCAlab, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Biennials, X Art Museum, Shenzhen’s 45 Anniversary Drone Show, Shanghai Tank Art Center, and others.
Zhu has earned many accolades, including Digital Art Zurich DA-Z award(Swiss), Hombres Videopoetry Award of Best Concept (Italy), Independent Film Award Best Experimental Film(LA), Digital Griffix Award(Canada), Jury selected Award of Asia Art Season, Awards from the APENFT Foundation, and the Best Installation Award of Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation(China), Artist award by Heart Art Communication Foundation(Japan), and among others.
He also published a book, INVISIBLE Z AXIS : Art History through the Lens of Astrological Archetype.
